My Story

Hi, I'm Claire and I live in Scotland with my husband and our beautiful dogs, Molly and Daisy.

I’ve been a nurse for 18 years, with the privilege of caring for people and supporting their families during some of the most important and difficult times—both in hospital and in the community.

When I’m not creating your beautiful memorial jewellery, I love spending time with my husband and our girls, making the most of any rare sunshine, and enjoying a cuppa while catching up with friends and family. I love 1940's/50's hair and makeup, and when I get the chance, I’m enjoying some Mexican food and finishing the day with a wee comedy or theatre show.

My Star’s Story – My Mum, Dawn

My Mum, Dawn, was such a kind, caring, strong and funny woman—the kind who told it as it really was, but without offence and always making you laugh.

She was a carer for over 35 years—a role she loved—but her greatest ambition in life was always to be a Mum, to have a family of her own to love. Marrying our lovely dad Alan young, they had my brother and I and their family was complete. Having us young meant we were always close. She wasn’t just our Mum—she really was our best friend.

Outside of being Mum, she loved music and dancing, watching rubbish reality TV and a good Netflix series, taking long soaks in the bath, and enjoying drinks in the sunshine with her family. In Mum’s last year with us, she welcomed and adored spending time with her wee fur baby, Daisy.

When Mum was younger, she was diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition—hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After a long and hard-fought battle, awaiting a heart transplant on life support, Mum heartbreakingly passed in 2025. Losing her has been, and continues to be, the hardest thing I've ever gone through.

Like so many others, I felt I needed something to feel close to her - something physical that would keep her with me always.

This was how Starstory Jewellery began.

Why I Started Starstory Jewellery

My lovely in-laws very kindly gifted me a piece of memorial jewellery so I could always have Mum close, and I’ll never forget how amazing it felt when her jewellery arrived home to me.

When I first placed Mum’s jewellery on, it was incredibly emotional — but more than anything, I felt a comfort and connection I hadn’t felt since she passed away. Like the warmest hug from my Mum.

Right then, I knew I wanted to help others experience that same comfort and connection.

The name Starstory was inspired by my Mum and our long connection with stars. To me, a Star is someone, or your beautiful fur baby, whose story became part of your own.

Whether they're still by your side or not, their love, memories and legacy continue to be part of who you are. For some, a Star represents a spiritual connection, a comforting symbol, or a reminder of the people and pets who have made you who you are. I believe that, like the stars in the sky, they're always with you.

And so, Starstory Jewellery was born — each piece created, finished and prepared by me, with my Mum beside me every step of the way.

Giving Back with Every Starstory

Every Starstory order helps honour your Star while bringing comfort, connection and second chances to others.

In memory of my Mum, Dawn, and in support of the millions of people and families affected by heart conditions, a £1 donation from every order is made to the British Heart Foundation, helping fund life-changing research, care, and support.

A second £1 donation from every order is made to Give a Dog a Bone... and an animal a home—a wonderful charity that helps reduce loneliness and social isolation among older adults by supporting rescue pet adoption, creating meaningful companionship, and giving rescue animals the loving homes they deserve.
