My Story
Hi, I'm Claire and I live in Scotland with my husband and our much loved dogs, Molly and Daisy.
I’ve been a nurse for 18 years, with the privilege of caring for people and supporting their families during some of the most important and difficult times—both in hospital and in the community.
When I’m not creating your beautiful memorial jewellery, I love spending time with my husband and our girls, making the most of any rare sunshine, and enjoying a cuppa while catching up with friends and family. I love 1940's/50's hair and makeup, and when I get the chance, I’m enjoying some Mexican food and finishing the day with a wee comedy or theatre show.
My Star’s Story – My Mum, Dawn
My Mum, Dawn, was such a kind, caring, strong and funny woman—the kind who told it as it really was, but without offence and always making you laugh.
She was a carer for over 35 years—a role she loved—but her greatest ambition in life was always to be a Mum, to have a family of her own to love. Marrying our lovely dad Alan young, they had my brother and I and their family was complete. Having us young meant we were always close. She wasn’t just our Mum—she really was our best friend.
Outside of being Mum, she loved music and dancing, watching rubbish reality TV and a good Netflix series, taking long soaks in the bath, and enjoying drinks in the sunshine with her family. In Mum’s last year with us, she welcomed and adored spending time with her wee fur baby, Daisy.
When Mum was younger, she was diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition—hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After a long and hard-fought battle, awaiting a heart transplant on life support, Mum heartbreakingly passed in 2025. Losing her has been, and continues to be, the hardest thing I have ever gone through.
Although I know she is still with me in spirit, like so many others, I felt I needed something to feel closer to her - something physical that would keep her, our memories and her story with me always.
This was how Starstory Jewellery began.
Why I Started Starstory Jewellery
My lovely in-laws very kindly gifted me a piece of memorial jewellery so I could have Mum close, and I’ll never forget how amazing it felt when it arrived home to me.
When I first placed Mum’s jewellery on, it was incredibly emotional — but more than anything, I felt a comfort and connection I hadn’t felt since losing her. Like the warmest hug from my Mum.
Right then, I knew I wanted to help others experience that same comfort and connection. Whether you’re remembering a loved one or a beloved pet, each piece is created to honour their story in a way that feels personal, lasting, and close.
Starstory comes from Mum often calling me her wee star. Now, I always look up at the night sky and think of her — my own star — and the memories and stories we shared. Over time, there have been many signs and synchronicities involving stars that have drawn me even closer to that connection.
And so, Starstory Jewellery was born — each piece created, finished, and prepared by me, with Mum beside me every step of the way.
Supporting Families, Hearts & Second Chances
Every piece of Starstory Jewellery tells a story of love, remembrance, and connection. By choosing Starstory, you're helping create a positive impact beyond your own keepsake.
In memory of my Mum, Dawn, and in support of the millions of people and families affected by heart conditions, a donation from every order is made to the British Heart Foundation, helping fund life-changing research, care, and support.
A second donation from every order is made to an animal welfare charity. Each year, Starstory partners with different organisations dedicated to protecting, caring for, and giving animals the love and second chances they deserve.
Together, we're honouring the people and pets we love while helping others facing their own journeys.
